Curry Named C-USA Player of the Week Following Hilltopper Classic – WKU Athletics

DALLAS – Bailey Curry delivered an otherworldly weekend for WKU Softball as the Red and White produced a perfect 5-0 weekend to win the Hilltopper Classic Championship, which the Conference USA office recognized on Monday with the league’s Player of the Week honor. She slashed .600/.667/.933 across the weekend as WKU climbed to 8-1 on the season and has tallied at least one hit and one RBI in each of the Tops’ last five games.

 

In just her second weekend of play as a Hilltopper, Curry tallied a 9-for-15 showing at the plate while driving in 12 RBI, drawing three walks and never striking out.

 

Curry registered a 3-for-3 game at the plate with four RBI in Friday night’s win and posted a 2-for-3, two-RBI showing in Saturday’s first win (SEMO) and a 2-for-3, three RBI outing in Saturday’s second win (Bellarmine). The fifth-year senior closed the weekend with a 1-for-3 effort including the base hit to spark the Hilltoppers’ five unanswered run rally in the bottom of the sixth to cut the deficit to 4-2 before her teammates kept things rolling.

 

Curry’s first C-USA honor marks the seventh Player/Hitter of the Week weekly award for WKU. It also marks the first of any weekly award for Hilltopper Softball this season.
