A variety of new restaurants and shops have opened in Chandler in recent months despite the dip in the economy caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

New restaurants and retail stores have recently opened in the city offering everything from Italian ice and Pho to furniture and wellness.

New things to try include award-winning tacos and a breakfast spot that takes you to Bisbee without going to Bisbee. 

One of the most recent additions is among the most exciting with 99 Ranch Market opening in a former Bashas’ store at Chandler Boulevard and Dobson Road.

Despite a recent loosening of mask wearing guidelines from the Centers For Disease Control, many businesses have safety measures listed on their websites. Consider calling ahead of your visit to confirm.

Here are 22 stores, eateries and other shops that have opened in recent months.

AZ Pho & Grill

This authentic Vietnamese restaurant has several locations in the East Valley serving Ahwatukee, Mesa, Gilbert and now a second location has recently opened in Chandler.

Backyard Taco

The family-owned Mexican food restaurant earned a popular following in central Mesa and Gilbert has expanded again. Known for its tacos al carbon, Backyard Taco now has a new location in Chandler.

BIBIO – Modern Korean Kitchen

This chain restaurant offers a build-your-own-bowl options. Guests can choose a base of white rice, brown rice or salad, then add proteins, veggies and a selection of sauces including beef ribeye bulgogi and kimchi.

Bisbee Breakfast Club

This quirky restaurant offers Southwest-influenced fare you won’t have to drive down to Bisbee for including the “stacked and jacked” pancakes, burgers and sandwiches.

Brooklyn V’s Pizza

This pizza joint opened earlier this week and is run by Brooklyn born Vito LoPiccolo who after 20 years running restaurants in New York has moved to Arizona. This is the third Brooklyn V’s Pizza to open in the Valley and the second location to open in Chandler.

The Broth Bar

This shop serves small-batch bone broth made from free range chickens and grass-fed beef, plus a large selection of shakes, smoothies and teas.

Central Kitchen

Thirsty Lion recently opened an online food hall in Chandler that features four different restaurants. Food is available for takeout and delivery only. Soy Joy Kitchen offers rice, sushi and ramen. Southern Jewel has a menu of soul food favorites including fried chicken and mac and cheese. Killer Wings offers boneless and traditional wings with a selection of seven different sauces. Pizza and Spice serves a wide selection of pizza and salads.

Crazy Tuna

This new all-you-can-eat sushi bar has a selection of made-to-order sushi rolls including no rice rolls, deep fried rolls and baked rolls.

Flavortown Kitchen

Celebrity chef Guy Fieri has opened multiple Flavortown ghost kitchens in metro Phoenix. The restaurant operates by delivery-only out of Buca di Beppo Italian restaurant in Chandler.

Opened just this week in Chandler is a new rolled ice cream shop with dozens of flavors including main thai, gotcha matcha, cereal killer and teas me.

Jeremiah’s Ice

A Florida chain has opened its first Arizona location in Chandler. The shop specializes in frozen treats called “gelatis” with Italian ice and ice cream. So flavors include orange smash, Pina Colada, lemon, banana and blueberry.

JINYA Ramen Bar

This is the first Arizona location for this restaurant. Tomo Takahashi opened his first Jinya Ramen Bar in Tokyo before setting up shop in California. The restaurant serves slow-simmered bone broths and vegetarian options.

Pie Express

This local shop offers an economical menu of pizza, nachos, burgers and build-your-own salad. The lunch special features a 9-inch pizza and medium fountain drink.

Pie Snob

The downtown Chandler shop is is the third Valley location for Pie Snob, which offers a variety of homemade pies, cheesecakes, gelato and coffee.

New stores and shops in Chandler

99 Ranch Market

The California-based Asian supermarket chain 99 Ranch Market occupies a former Bashas’ store at Dobson Road and Chandler Boulevard. It anchors the recently renovated Chandler Ranch, formerly known as Andersen Fiesta Shopping Center.

Bob’s Discount Furniture

This is the East Valley’s second location of this national furniture chain. The store is located in Crosswords Towne Center at Loop 202 and Gilbert Road.
