Passport Delays Due to COVID-19 Pandemic – Peter Greenberg.com Travel News

Is your passport about to expire or do you want to apply for a new one?

Because of COVID-19, the speed at which you can get a passport has slowed to a crawl, and in some cases a dead stop.

You now need an appointment at any one of the 27 regional passport centers around the country, and no walk-ins are allowed.

And the appointments are tough to obtain because of staffing shortages. Some folks living in Chicago or Los Angeles have made appointments and have actually flown to somewhat less busy centers in Vermont, Buffalo and Arkansas to get their passports.

This is definitely not the time to delay getting your passport or you may find yourself unable to leave the country for the rest of this year.
