Ruth Negga and Tessa Thompson explore identity in Netflix’s ‘Passing’ | USA TODAY

Ruth Negga and Tessa Thompson explore racial “passing” in new black-and-white Netflix film, adapted from Nella Larsen’s 1929 book.

Both are Black women. But one, Clare, is “passing” as white and married to white businessman John (Alexander Skarsgård) who has no clue about his wife’s secret; the other, Irene, lives in Harlem with Black doctor husband Brian (André Holland) and their two children.

Based on the 1929 Nella Larsen novel of the same name, the movie manages to tap into the modern-day parallels of “grappling with identity, the idea of (whether) we accept the identity that society gives us,” Negga says.

A Self-Defeating Mode of Representation

In these dazes of common sense break down, where “truth” is whatever is repeated often enough, along with the gop doing their best to find ways to divide us with an angry rage towards our neighbors and fellow citizens… ‘We the people’ need to come together for the betterment of all of ‘US’, all Beings and mindfully consider planning for a sustainable future in the face of global warming and overwhelming pollution. To do this, the tide must turn from our old self-defeating ways and Transcend towards a more inclusive endeavor that is good for everyone’s common best interests. Each one of us has a unique connection with certain others that can reach them in ways only that person can. Be that person that takes the steps to humble the ego and reach out as an Evolutionary inspiration.

How Dire Our Circumstances Have Become With All the Real-World Challenges We So Profoundly Face

We are in dire straits with all the real-world challenges we so profoundly face and the self-defeating embrace of the latest trend of anti-intellectualism, along with the embrace of religion’s morally bankrupt support of the most morally bankrupt, criminally corrupt ‘president’. With most of our country overrun by a popular but devastating trend towards extreme narcissism on a dangerously stupid level in which the majority of our mentally vulnerable population can’t resist being drawn into and allowed to be manipulated by morally bankrupt, corrupt, conniving, con thugs in the gop which is doing its best to destroy any chance of ever improving the human condition. This ‘self-defeating mode of representation’ is on course to become the end of the American ‘experiment’ by allowing stupid to be an option. One thing is for certain… The quality of the human condition will continue to deteriorate exponentially.

After Means “After”

Jesus made it so clear. Immediately after the Tribulation period, He will come for us. After still means after.
