- Shout Hallelujah! A Gospel Musical Comedy at the DeLuxe Theater | Daily – Get a dose of laughter and heartfelt moments for all ages when Calvary Entertainment presents Shout Hallelujah!, an uplifting musical comedy production set in a Black church where several key church members are confronted with personal and spiritual challenges, at the historic DeLuxe Theater. $25. Showtimes vary.
- Houston Restaurant Weeks 2021 | Daily – Kick off another month of specially-priced menus from almost 200 participating restaurants around town during the largest annual fundraiser for Houston Food Bank. The event will span Greater Houston through Labor Day, Monday, September 6, 2021. Menu prices are expected to be $20 for lunches and brunches; $35 or $45 for dinners. Prices, times, and locations vary.
- Houston Artists Murals at Discovery Green | Ongoing | FREE – Bring the kiddos to a photo-worthy mural spectacle, featuring works from 13 Houston artists that celebrate the richness and diversity of our community, culture, and natural environment. The artists, which include DUAL, Melissa Aytenfisu, Kill Joy, Meenr, and others were chosen for their designs that envision the Houston we want to see and inspire us to create that shared future together. 6am to 11pm daily.
- Houston Astros vs. Minnesota Twins at Minute Maid Park | Daily – Enjoy Hall of Fame Weekend during the course of this four-game series with the Twins. Special celebrations highlight the weekend’s games, including giveaways to the first 10,000 fans like a Lance Berkman replica jersey and bobbleheads. $15 to more than $175, but you may find better or cheaper seats on the TicketNetwork marketplace. Times vary.
- Mildred’s Umbrella presents Lady Grey (in ever lower light) Streaming Online | Thursday & Friday | Virtual – Will Eno’s play looks at marriage, life, and expectations—both our own and those of the people around us—through the lens of a woman in an almost-happy marriage. Performed onstage and filmed for a streaming audience, the show is the final installment of Mildred’s Umbrella’s digital projects. Tickets are free, although pay-what-you-can donations are appreciated.
- Houston Shakespeare Festival presents Shakespeare Night at the Movies at Miller Outdoor Theatre | Thursday to Saturday | FREE – Spend your week enjoying a curated collection of Shakespeare films, along with a pre-screening discussion with theatre historian Dr. Rob Shimko, at this year’s adapted Houston Shakespeare Festival which will feature film screenings of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Much Ado About Nothing, Romeo + Juliet, and more. Limited, free tickets for the covered seating are available online, two days prior to each screening. Seating on the hill is open to the public. 8:30pm.
- Houston Abilities Expo at NRG Center | Friday to Sunday | FREE – This free expo serves as a source for the community of people with disabilities and their families, older adults, veterans, and healthcare professionals. While here, check out the artist market that features works from artists with disabilities, discovery ability-enhancing products and services, play a few adaptive sports, learn new dance moves, and more. There are also kid-friendly activities and events like face painting and special entertainment. While free to attend, parking is $15 per vehicle. Friday and Saturday 11am to 5pm; Sunday 11am to 4pm.
- 43rd Annual Hunters Extravaganza 2021 at NRG Center | Friday to Sunday – Shop for camo, blinds, feeders, ATVs, optics, game calls, and more when the original Texas hunting show, Hunters Extravaganza, returns to NRG Center for a weekend celebrating all things outdoors. $12 for a one-day pass; $5 for a one-day pass for ages 5 to 12; free for ages 4 and under. Also free for active military, first responders, and veterans with valid ID. $15 for a weekend pass. Parking is $15 per vehicle. Times vary.
- Bat Boat Tour at Allen’s Landing | Friday & Saturday – Sail a scenic waterway while watching the emergence of the 250,000+ Mexican free-tailed bats that live under the bridge on a 90-minute, guided tour from Downtown to Waugh Drive Bridge and back. $30 per person. 7:30pm to 9pm both days.
- Music Box Theater presents 10 Year Anniversary Show | Friday & Saturday – Celebrating both the re-opening of its cozy Colquitt Street home and its 10th anniversary, this cabaret features a musical tribute to favorite songs and funny moments from the last decade. Seating is limited to 60% capacity. $35; $48 for reserved seating. 7:30pm.
- Stages presents Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill | Daily | Virtual Option – Recently extended, this musical takes us to Billie Holiday at the end of her career, performing at a Philadelphia dive bar and sharing stories about her iconic life. This knock-out Tony winner includes more than a dozen Billie Holiday hits like “Crazy He Calls Me,” “Easy Living, ” and “Strange Fruit.” Livestream is available via Overture+. $25. Times vary.
- Deli Month at Kenny & Ziggy’s | All month long – Kenny & Ziggy’s will be raising funds for Holocaust Museum Houston during August’s National Deli Month, offering a multi-choice, three-course menu during lunch and dinner for $38 plus tax and gratuity, and with 10% of each meal sold going to HMH.
- Enchiladas of the Month at Sylvia’s Enchilada Kitchen | All month long – Chef-owner Sylvia Casares is continuing her “Enchiladas of the Month” series with a creation that gives a nod to a famed South Texas ranch and town near her own birthplace in Brownsville. All throughout August, diners can dig into the Armstrong, housemade corn tortillas filled with carne guisada and topped with Sylvia’s famous gravy, cheddar cheese and onions. The plate comes with rice and beans or a Caesar salad for $17.50 plus tax and gratuity.
- Current Temporary Museum Exhibits & Art Installations on View Around Greater Houston | Daily | Many FREE – Explore the many striking, stunning, and diverse exhibits exploring history, science, art, culture, and creativity around the Greater Houston metro area.

- Closing Celebration: Turn On, Tune In, Tap Out at Contemporary Arts Museum Houston | FREE – Join the 30 Houston-area teen artists featured in Turn On, Tune In, Tap Out for an evening of upbeat tunes by DJ mLe, a vaporwave-inspired photo booth, button-making, and decor from Smash and Pull Piñata at CAMH in Museum District. 6pm to 8pm.
- Rage Yoga at Buffalo Bayou Brewing Company – Sip on brew while expressing yourself through screaming and cursing at Rage Yoga at Buffalo Bayou Brewing Company near Washington Ave. This class is ages 21 and up. $20. 7pm.
- Bike Night at Raven Tower | No Cover – Try your hand at raffle and door prizes, enjoy delicious food truck eats and more, when Mancuso Harley-Davidson Central hosts the monthly Bike Night at Raven Tower in the Heights. 7pm to 9pm.

- Pi’erre Bourne at Warehouse Live – After producing hit singles like Playboi Carti’s “Magnolia”, Pi’erre Bourne has stepped into the trap game for himself, dropping critically acclaimed albums such as his recent June 2021 studio release, The Life of Pi’erre 5, which brings him on tour to the EaDo venue. $20 in advance, $25 day of the show; but you may find better or cheaper seats using the TicketNetwork online marketplace. 8pm.
- Josh Ward in Concert at Dosey Doe: the Big Barn – Head to the Woodlands to kick off your Thursday with the country music stylings of honky-tonk singer-songwriter, Josh Ward, when he performs live at Dosey Doe: the Big Barn. $18 to $24. 8:30pm.

- National Root Beer Float Day at Saint Arnold Brewery | No Cover – Celebrate National Root Beer Float Day as Saint Arnold’s Brewery offers $5 Root Beer Floats with a souvenir cup all day long while supplies last as well as serving Commitment Imperial Stout Floats for adults. 11am to 11pm.
- All Access Art Market at Finn Hall | No Cover – Taking place in Downtown once every month, the local art market offers a platform for vendors, artists, designers and creators to showcase and sell their artwork. 4pm to 10pm.
- Wakefield Night Market at Walking Stick Brewing Company | No Cover – Head to Garden Oaks/Oak Forest neighborhood for an evening market that includes 30 local vendors offering art, food, and small business goods. Grab a beer from Walking Stick or dinner from the neighboring Wakefield Crowbar to round out the evening. 5pm to 9pm.
- BLCK Market at Buffalo Soldiers National Museum – In the Museum District, this market showcasing Black-owned businesses and entrepreneurs takes place at the Buffalo Soldiers National Museum on the first Friday evening and second Saturday afternoon of each month. $5, with limited free tickets available. 6pm to 10pm.
- Sarah Kelly Music School in Concert at Market Street | FREE – Enjoy a family-friendly live performance on the lawn of Market Street in the Woodlands from the Sarah Kelly Music School. 6:30pm to 8pm.

- Kurt Braunohler at the Secret Group – Known for his special on Comedy Central and collaborations with Kristen Schaal, including multiple voices on Bob’s Burgers, the comic makes his way to EaDo for an evening of laughs. $15 in advance; $20 day of the show. 8pm.
- Young Nudy at House of Blues – Known for his Slimeball mixtapes and Sli’merre collaboration with Pi’erre Bourne, the trap rapper recently dropped his second studio album, Dr. Ev4l, and heads out on the road in support of the release. $20, but you may find better or cheaper tickets using the TicketNetwork online marketplace. 8pm.
- Classic Numbers at Numbers Nightclub – Travel back to the ’80s with hits from the Smiths, the Cure, Blondie, and more every Friday night at the always-eclectic Numbers Nightclub in Montrose. Cover charge at the door. 9pm.
- One Off Pun Off 6: Houston’s Premier Pun Battle at the Secret Group – Laugh it up in EaDo as twenty-four comics duke it out in a head-to-head single-elimination pun tournament for the crown, cash, and prizes at the Secret Group. $5. 10pm.
- Slushii at Stereo Live Houston – Welcome to the stage Los Angeles-based DJ, singer, and record producer, Slushii, when Stereo Live Houston on Richmond hosts him for a live performance. $20 to $27. 10pm.
